ONE NEW CHANGE

ONE NEW CHANGE is Land Securities’ latest development located on Cheapside in the heart of the City of London.  It is London’s newest shopping destination, complete with cafés and restaurants from renowned chefs and flagship menswear and womenswear fashion brands, all set overlooking London’s most famous landmark, St. Paul’s Cathedral.

One New Change is a contemporary building with a total of eight floors comprising offices on the top four floors, a public terrace at roof level on the sixth floor, and shops on the Lower Ground, Ground and First Floor. With around 60 stores spanning the three floors, One New Change is one of the largest shopping centres in central London, rivalling other London shopping hot-spots. A panoramic lift in the middle gives direct access to new and exciting views over St. Paul’s Cathedral dome.

BLE Smoke & Fire installed a challenging series of smoke curtains to provide protection around the central circular atrium on all levels. More challenging still were the curtains to the lightwells created in the floors. These large irregular shapes contained both severe acute and obtuse angles all of which needed our fully engineered curtains to provide EN12101 compliance.

Working closely with Jean Nouvels architectural practice and Sidell Gibson as well as Arup, BLE delivered the smoke compartmentation to all levels to satisfy the needs of the Fire Authorities without compromising the stunning design.
